Hey Lifted! Fam - First off … I’ve missed you all so much! As I’m writing this, I am down to just seven more performances wearing my church lady hat in The Color Purple. This experience has been nothing short of LIFE-CHANGING and life-giving! Thank you to everyone that came out to support, prayed for me, and stepped in to cover things while I’ve been away. Your love and well-wishes have sustained me throughout this journey. (Special shout-out to Maya for making me try-out!) I hope I’ve made you all proud! 🥹 For those who missed our Juneteenth celebration, it was like a family reunion and I felt so blessed to be back together in the sunshine celebrating such an amazing 2024-25 season! Once my time with Village Theatre comes to an end, I am turning my sights to getting everything nailed down for the 2025-2026 season of Lifted! I can’t believe that this upcoming year will be our FIFTH season of uplifting souls and spreading hope through music. I am so excited to jump back in with all of you this fall. Last month we circulated a Caregiver Survey where we asked the community for feedback about Lifted! … what is working well and what things we could be doing better … and you came through! Thanks to our amazing review team led by Colin Anthony, we have read through, analyzed and discussed all of your thoughtful responses and want to make sure that they are on the top of our mind as we move into the 2025-2026 season. Over the next few weeks, I would love to gather a group of caregivers and other friends of Lifted! for a round table discussion and work-session as we aim to nail down some foundational systems heading into the fall. Some of the agenda items include our season calendar, special events, rehearsal and workshop schedule, community involvement, etc. If you would like to join the round table as we work through these important items, please email Cryshairston@gmail.com to let me know. The first will be held at my home on Monday evening, July 28th. Hugs to all of you! Don’t forget to keep supporting our amazing young ppl this summer! We’ve got Lifted! folks that just finished Alvin Ailey Camp, a bunch that are preparing for Teen Summer Musical’s The Wiz, some that have been busy with parades in the Dolls and Gents drill team and some participating in tournaments like track and field, chess and basketball! You all are amazing and I’m a fan for life! If you have an event you’d like to highlight involving a Lifted! young person, please let us know! We’d love to feature it in our newsletter!
