I have finally returned from my four-month sabbatical and adventure with The Color

Purple: The Musical. What a ride it’s been! Thanks again to my Lifted Family for all the love you poured out on me during my time away! The cards, hugs, prayers, visits, gifts and support kept me encouraged throughout the run.

Although I was quite busy living the “theater life” I kept you all close to heart and continued meeting with caregivers and community leaders to dream about how we can make Lifted! even better in the coming season and beyond. I am so excited to start this 5th Season (wow!) of Lifted and roll out some new ideas that we hope will enhance the experience of both our vocalists and our caregiving families.

Please take a moment to read through all of the important updates and upcoming events for our upcoming season below. The first event of the season will be our Orientation Day on September 13th at 11 AM. Lunch will be provided. We’re encouraging all families to attend. Details are below!

Opening Orientation Day

To kick off the 2025-2026 season, we will be holding an Opening Orientation Day on Saturday, September 13th from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Lake Burien Presbyterian Church. During this time, we will provide specifics around the season calendar, introduce leadership, provide opportunities for volunteer involvement, and support the family registration process including taking photos for a Lifted! Family Directory. I am so excited to see everyone’s faces gathered together after summer break and I’m looking forward to sharing some of my big dreams for the Lifted! 2025-2026 season.

Rehearsal Schedule

As our choir grows, we are seeing a need to make slight changes to our rehearsal schedule to allow for more productive practices and better connection for our families. With these goals in mind, we will be splitting Wednesday rehearsals into two groups:

• Lifted! Youth (Ages 5 - 12) 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM on Wednesdays

• Lifted! Youth (Ages 12 - 18) 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Wednesdays

In between these two rehearsals (from 5:30 PM - 6:00 PM), we will have a time for our community to gather over conversation, play in the courtyard, or enjoy a meal together. We are hoping that this will provide the time and space to build deeper connection among our families.

(For those families with children spanning both age ranges, exceptions will be made on a case by case basis to accommodate the simplification of your family calendar.)
