Important Season Updates!

25 abr 2025

Hey Lifted! Fam -

Happy Friday! Brianna here with some important season updates. As you all know, Crystal is now out on sabbatical for the remainder of the season prepping and performing in The Color Purple with The Village Theater. The lovely Joyya Seamster, Crystal’s sister, will be stepping in as our director while Crystal is out, and I will be continuing in my role managing things on the back end. There have been some important decisions made regarding the rest of the season, and we wanted to get everyone on the same page.

First off … please take a few minutes to watch this short video from Crystal:

CRYSTAL SPEAKS FROM THE HEART

Like Crystal mentioned in the video, we have heard from the community and are making some important changes. First, we will no longer be meeting on Wednesdays to give everyone some much needed rest after an incredibly successful, but busy, season! Additionally, the original Juneteenth performance at Benaroya is off the table due to unforeseen budget cuts with Benaroya & the Seattle Opera. Instead, we will hold Monthly Workshops on May 10th and June 14th where Joyya will be prepping us to perform a mini concert alongside a Juneteenth celebration for the community. The mini concert and Juneteenth celebration will be at Lake B on June 19th between 12:00 - 2:00 PM … and the exciting news is that Crystal will be there to celebrate with us!

Caregiver Action Items:

  • Update your calendar to remove Wednesday rehearsals and update your Saturday Workshop dates (now 5/10 & 6/14) and the Juneteenth Celebration & Mini Concert (6/19)

  • Take the Caregiver Survey at the link below

See that picture up at the top there? That is the work of our talented photographer, Amanda, who beautifully captured our April 5th concert. This picture and so many more are available for you to download by visiting the link below. There are some really great shots that captured the beautiful spirit of the day, so make sure to check them out.

Social Opportunities

Part of what makes Lifted! so magical is our community of families. While we are taking a break from weekly rehearsals, we want to make sure that we have opportunities to gather outside of rehearsal time. You may have seen our fantastic volunteer Sharon sending out some polls in WhatsApp to start planning some future hang sessions. We will keep you posted as those plans materialize but, in the meantime, please reach out to Sharon - sharchun@gmail.com - if you have any suggestions or ideas for a time for us to gather.

Also! We want to encourage all of you to share on WhatsApp if you have any fun things coming up that other families might want to attend. Do you have a theater performance coming up, or an end of year recital or concert? Is there a community event that you are planning to attend and would like company? Throw up a post to WhatsApp with the details so we have even more opportunities to connect.

If you aren’t on WhatsApp yet … slick here to: Download WhatsApp and join the group.

The Color Purple Tickets

Some of you have been asking about tickets for Crystal’s performance in The Color Purple. The tickets for the show are definitely on the expensive side, but there is one terrific opportunity to see the show at a discounted rate. On May 27th, there is a is a Pay What You Will (PWYW) performance at 7:30 PM which is a wonderful way to go.

Tickets for the PWYW performance can be purchased online one week in advance of the performance date for a suggested ticket price of $20. You may also visit the Box Office in person or call (425) 392-2202 to pay any price you wish, starting one week before the PWYW performance.

Please keep in mind that there is some mature content in the show, so please make the best decision for your kids/family in deciding to attend.

In Closing …

Thanks for bearing with me through this beast of an email! I am happy to help answer any questions you have and can be reached by text at (206) 390-2313, via email at bmdcollins@gmail.com, or via WhatsApp.

Looking forward to being back together again on May 10th!
