Can you believe we are already 2 months into our season? Our young people are off to a great start! Our first workshop of the year was amazing with so many new families, lots of passion and incredible talent. Our weekly rehearsals have been great connection times. We even did a family dinner night and enjoyed a meal together between rehearsals.

In just over a month, we’ll be presenting our first concert of the season: “Holy One”. More than ever, I am reminded of the importance of hope, family and safe community. I hope this concert will be another opportunity to bring our community together and be reminded of the gift of love God gave to us through Jesus and the important responsibility we have to share that love with extravagant generosity.

This weekend is our second workshop of the season from 1 PM to 4 PM and we encourage everyone who’s able to join us. We’ll be located in the Fellowship Hall at Lake Burien Presbyterian Church. The four songs we’ll rehearse include: “Go Tell It”, “Jesus is the Reason”, “Silver & Gold”, and “Lift the Savior Up”. If you have a young person that is interested in soloing, video auditions can be sent virtually from now until Wednesday, November 5th to liftedyouthgospelchoir@gmail.com or sent to Crystal via WhatsApp.

On a family note, lots of life is happening. Thank you to those who took cards home or signed cards to encourage our Lifted! families. As we look ahead, the need to lean in to one another and share what we have will be so important. At the bottom of this email, you’ll find community resources that I hope will be a blessing and encouragement to you in the days ahead. You’ll find ways to both offer and receive support.

You are loved and are such a valued part of this family. Keep being reflections of light and mercy in the world.

CONCERT DETAILS

This year’s concert will be held at John Knox Presbyterian Church. We are grateful for their willingness to host us again. Here are a few details to keep in mind as you are planning for the day:

Call Time: 10:45 AM

Sound Check: 11 AM to Noon (A light lunch will be provided directly after.)

Concert Time: 1 PM - 2:30 PM (Doors open at 12:30 PM. Reception to follow.)

Attire: All black (New Christmas stoles will be provided the day of the concert.)

As the concert approaches, we’ll be looking for lots of volunteers. If you have not yet signed up for Safe Church Training with Michael, please email him at michaelwon@lbpc.org to arrange a time. All volunteers need to be trained through this process to ensure the safety of our young people. The training takes approximately 45 min and can be done in-person or virtually.

Community Spotlights

One of our beloved Lifted! families, the Reyes Family, owns the very delicious Lenox restaurant in downtown Seattle. As many prepare to have SNAP benefits halted in November, restaurants like the Lenox are stepping up to provide some much needed support to the community. If you’re in the area and would like to request a dinner, email info@lenoxwa.com or call/text (206) 375-4557.

Lake Burien Presbyterian Church has a Community Fund to offer financial assistance for rent, essential bills or utilities, and food/gas. If you’d like to request support, please email office@LBPC.org.

Lifted! will also be accepting grocery gift card donations to be a blessing to our choir families, especially as many of us prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday. If your family could benefit from some extra grocery support in this season, please don’t hesitate to reach out to liftedyouthgospelchoir@gmail.com.

We truly believe in the ABUNDANCE of community and that, together, we have everything we need. Let’s continue to share resources, ideas, creativity and even our kitchen tables to make sure everyone is cared for.
